A Turkey Valley school bus was sideswiped by a pickup Tuesday while on its way to pick up students, authorities said.
According to a news release, just after 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dewayne M. Bruess, 32, of Waucoma, was just north of Waucoma on County Road V68 when he crossed the center line of traffic in his truck, striking the bus on the driver's side.
Fayette County deputies said the bus, operated by Marsha A. Wenthold, 55, also of Waucoma, appeared to have sustained damage to the tires and panel on the driver's side. Wenthold was not injured, deputies said.
Deputies said Bruess was charged with failure to yield to an oncoming vehicle and having no insurance.
No students were aboard the school bus at the time of the crash, deputies said.
Fayette County deputies were aided by the Waucoma Fire Department.
