Set speed control to avoid tickets

The Dec. 25 letter (“Visitor's ticket leads to loss for C.R. businesses”) from the out-of-state visitor who stated she “would never set foot in Cedar Rapids again” because of receiving a ticket made me wonder what she did to get the ticket and how violations of the law should be handled. If every ticket was excused, what would that look like for the safety of our citizens?
Along these lines, I have a perfect solution for those who are against the traffic cameras. It works great to set your speed control at 55 mph, so you can drive through Cedar Rapids with no thought of getting a ticket. Think of how pleasant it would be if we just did that.
Our police chief recently stated that our city is a safer place with the reduced speed limit. If just one life is saved because of it, wouldn't it be worth it?
