Coe’s expansion doesn’t need Polk Elementary
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 5, 2012 11:03 pm
Coe College's expansion to the east, which has involved the purchase and demolition of many homes and the destruction of a neighborhood, is partially responsible for the proposed closing of Polk Elementary School located at 15th Street and B Avenue NE. Coe does not need the land. Its expansion has displaced families, destroyed memories and decreased the enrollment at Polk School.
I urge all citizens to support the campaign to save Polk School.
