Former Marion Coach Weisinger joining Fort Madison Hall of Fame

Former Marion head wrestling coach Bruce Weisinger will be one of four inducted into the Fort Madison Hall of Fame on Fridaybefore the Bloodhounds' home boys' basketball game against Keokuk. Weisinger, a 1977 Fort Madison graduate who was a wrestling captain his senior year, coached for 29 seasons overall, including three at Linn-Mar. He has coached 30 state qualifiers and 18 medalists, 27 qualifiers and 17 placewinners at Marion. He guided Aaron Conway to the 2003 Class 2A 119-pound state title for Marion and Linn-Mar's Jeff Watts to the 3A heavyweight title in 1991. Weisinger remains an Industrial Tech teacher for Marion Community School District and has also coached football. He played football and wrestled all four years at Fort Madison and played baseball for three. He was a three-time state qualifier, finishing third and sixth under . He posted a 66-14 career record for the Bloodhounds before wrestling at University of Northern Iowa from 1978-82, where he was an NCAA Division II national qualifier. Below is an excerpt from Fort Madison High School on Weisinger's exploits:

Champions, 2 state champions, 19 state place winners, and 31 state qualifiers.

• Married to Michele, Children Brittany 25 and Austin 20

• 4 years of football and wrestling. 3 years of baseball at FMHS

• Qualified for the state wrestling tournament 3 times; placing 3
