Officials in two northern Iowa counties baffled by missing caucus results
Jan. 19, 2012 11:45 am
Election officials were mystified Thursday as to how Iowa caucus results from two North Iowa counties were not accounted for in the certified results.
State Republican party officials announced the certified results of the Jan. 3 caucuses showed former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum with a 34-vote edge over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
Original results showed Romney as the winner by eight votes.
State party officials said they did not have totals from eight precincts, including Ward 2, precinct 3 in northwest Mason City and Geneva/Reeve in Franklin County.
