UI student reportedly robbed at knife-point near dorm

IOWA CITY - A University of Iowa student was reportedly robbed at knife-point by three men early Sunday as he walked toward Mayflower Residence Hall.

According to a university news release, the male student was walking down the Dubuque St. hill toward Mayflower at about 1:25 a.m. Sunday when three unidentified men robbed him.

The victim's friends took him to UI Hospitals and Clinics for minor injuries, the release said.

According to UI Spokesman Tom Moore, the student reported the incident to Residence Hall staff. The Resident Assistant then recorded the incident in a database reviewed by the Office of Student Life and the Department of Residence, Moore said. Those offices then informed UI Police.

The victim did not report the robbery to UI Police or Iowa City Police, so neither department is investigating the incident, the release said.
