Seeing the sweeter side of winter
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 26, 2012 11:44 pm
Forgive the hyperbole, this year's midwinter weather has me transfixed or, to borrow a phrase from “The Great One,” Jackie Gleason, from some years ago: “How sweet it is.”
My daily highlight has been that of walking by black spaniel, Brandi, along Indian Creek Nature Trail with my companion, Larry, greeting others, obviously sharing our pleasure of morning sunshine and fresh air exercise. This experience I was denied during my working years.
One enjoys the creek, of course, with the duckling skeins and varied water moods of tranquillity and/or babbling, breeze in the face, giving a sense of earth's goodness and grandeur, petting the dogs and visiting with familiar friends and strangers, one with nature, sunshine and sweet, breezes and quietude.
How great to be alive. Strike the Tebow pose.
