Don’t let feelings snap traffic camera use

It's discouraging to see our Iowa Legislature follow personal bias instead of elected responsibilities with regard to the traffic camera discussions.
Instead of objectively looking at the published safety data and discussing the issue with Iowa law enforcement, some legislators listen to a small vocal minority and/or put personal bias ahead of supporting the majority of Iowans.
Several legislators have described the traffic cameras as “unfair” or “big brotherish.” These same legislators don't want to discuss the fact that the traffic cameras catch people who are breaking the speed limit. If there is concern over the unequal procedures for traffic camera use, then create legislation that will have all Iowa traffic camera use be uniform.
Doesn't it make sense for those folks who decide it's OK to break the speed limit to pay for that choice and allow law enforcement to use those funds in their communities? The traffic cameras are clearly marked by large signage. It's not like the traffic cameras are hidden.
I was taught that breaking the law is breaking the law whether law enforcement was present or not. The majority of Iowans obey the speed limit. How about we support them instead of folks who don't? Any legislator who votes to ban traffic cameras doesn't desire my vote in the next election.
