C.R. needs to build rec center, senior center

The Cedar Rapids school board is considering closing several schools. The Educational Services Center building was damaged in the flood of 2008, as were many other businesses and homes. The school board received money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as did many other businesses and homes. Most businesses refurbished their buildings. Did the school board opt to refurbish the ESC building? No!
They are building a brand new place that will cost more money than FEMA gave them. Now they want to close schools because it will save money. Curious, isn't it.
The city of Cedar Rapids and Linn County have put the refurbishing of public buildings on the fast track. But why is it taking so long to decide where to build a senior center and the Time Check Recreation Center?
School, city and county people need nice places to work. School kids are happy with old buildings, but they need to sacrifice more. The rec center might be built - eventually. Until then, play in the streets. Seniors will have to wait, too.
