Macbride no-wake change is a no-brainer
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 11, 2012 11:10 pm
Why is there even a controversy about having Lake Macbride a no-wake lake year-round? Has the no-wake rule ruined any of the lakes in Iowa? Why would it hurt Macbride? Most Iowans have been waiting year after year for this no-wake rule to be implemented only to be disappointed again by legislators who must think it isn't a very important issue.
The 10-horsepower rule benefits only the cottage dwellers for the selfish reason of fewer fishermen and boaters. Why not give Lake Macbride back to the citizens of Iowa instead of making it a private country club for some of the cottage dwellers on this lake?
I think something smells in Lake Macbride and it isn't the fish!
