Huge 2nd half leads Iowa City West past Linn-Mar, 71-51 (live)

DES MOINES - It's the second state tournament semifinal in Class 4A, with the winner facing Adam Woodbury and Sioux City East. The Black Raiders survived top-seeded and previously unbeaten Ankeny in double-overtime in the first semifinal, 60-56.
This game is a rematch of last season's 4A semifinals. The teams also played in the regular season, with West winning at Linn-Mar, 75-63.
Here are the starting lineups:
Linn-Mar - Matt Lassen (6-foot-4, junior); Marcus Paige (6-2, senior); Jimmy Roth (6-4, junior); Andy Henry (6-3, senior); Derik Gogg (6-8, junior).
West - Dondre Alexander (6-3, junior); Jeremy Morgan (6-6, junior); Wyatt Lohaus (6-1, sophomore); Jake Gylten (6-6, senior); Myzeah Batie-Gaddy (6-5, junior).
First-Quarter Updates
- Entertaining opening quarter. Late baseball drive and reverse layup by Gylten gave West a 15-13 lead. He had 7 big first-quarter points, including a 3-pointer.
Linn-Mar got 6 points from Paige, but he got help, with four other Lions scoring points. L-M hit 6 of 10 in quarter.
Second-Quarter Updates
- Not as much scoring in the second quarter, but Linn-Mar continues to hang with favored West. It's Trojans 22-21 at the break.
Linn-Mar shot 8 of 16 from the field to West's 9 for 22 (40.9 percent). West outrebounding Linn-Mar by five, turnovers about even.
Gylten the first-half star for West with 9 points. The Alexander-Morgan-Lohaus trio held to 3 points each. Paige with 8 for Linn-Mar, 4 of 7 from the field. Matt Meier off the bench with a solid 5-point contribution.
Third-Quarter Updates
- West leads, 40-38. Strong quarter by Alexander, who had 10 points. Linn-Mar took a 36-34 lead on a Paige jumper, forcing West Coach Steve Bergman to call a timeout. Trojans outscored Linn-Mar after that, 6-2, to re-take edge.
