Conference decision goes to Department of Education

The conference affiliation of more than 40 Eastern Iowa high schools now lies in the hands of the Iowa Department of Education.
School representatives "had the opportunity to speak their peace" at a hearing Wednesday in Des Moines, according to Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union executive director Mike Dick.
"Our work is done," said Dick, who -- along with Iowa High School Athletic Association assistant director David Anderson and mediation team facilitator Dwight Carlson -- formed a committee that made a recommendation to the Department of Education's Carol Greta.
