CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – April 11, 2012 – The westbound Interstate 80 on-ramp at First Avenue (exit 242) in Coralville will be closed for road construction from 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, until 6 a.m. Thursday, April 12, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's Cedar Rapids construction office.
During this closure, traffic will be detoured to the Dubuque Street interchange to get on westbound I-80. Please follow the marked detour during this closure.
Also, westbound I-80 will be reduced to one lane between First Avenue (exit 242) near Coralville and Herbert Hoover Highway/Johnson County Road F-44 (exit 249) near Iowa City. A 12-foot width lane restriction will be in place in the open lane.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations can more than double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
