Hospital decisions on project were wrong
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Apr. 14, 2012 10:58 am
For three generations, my family has gone to St. Luke's Hospital for emergencies, outpatient surgeries and hospitalizations. I will be going to Mercy Medical Center from now on.
I have no complaints with service or treatment at St. Luke's, but am changing hospitals due to the closing of Second Avenue at 10th Street, and the hospital's plan to tear down First Christian Church for the new Physicians' Clinic of Iowa medical facility.
Unfortunately, I live in the county, so am unable to vote against the City Council members who voted for the closing of Second Avenue. But in years to come, when people continue to lament the tearing down of the train depot in Greene Square Park, and also are lamenting the disruption of traffic on Second Avenue because the hospital and the city disregarded the city's traffic functioning and the will of the citizens, I will make sure that all who lament know the names of each of the council members who voted to go along with the hospital's greedy plan.
