Timm turns down Wash, Luehsrmann interviews at Xavier & Wash

CEDAR RAPIDS - Ed Timm stresses that he didn't go out and pursue Cedar Rapids Washington. Cedar Rapids Washington asked him to apply and interview for its open boys' basketball head coaching job.
Call it the spoils of success.
"Yes, I was offered the job there, but, no, I didn't take it," Timm said Wednesday. "This is a tough spot because I don't want this to reflect on anyone in any way. That's a great job, no question, with great support ... But I'm not looking to move."
So he'll remain at Mount Vernon, where he led the Mustangs to the 2012 Class 2A state championship. TImm also has head coaching experience at the collegiate level: at Cornell and Buena Vista.
Washington moves on as it looks to replace Brad Metzger, who stepped down earlier this spring after four seasons and two state tournament appearances at the school.
Washington and Cedar Rapids Xavier are both looking to fill head hoops vacancies. Xavier's Matt Jenkins resigned earlier this spring after three seasons as Saints' head coach.
Former University of Iowa guard Ryan Luehrsmann confirmed Wednesday that he has interviewed for Xavier's head coaching position and a source says he also has interviewed at Wash. Luehrsmann (a Wash grad) coached Xavier's freshman team this past season.
"I have interviewed (at Xavier) and am still in the mix," Luehrsmann said via Facebook. "It would be a fun challenge to take on."
