Thanks to his earlier political career, former county supervisor Jim Houser has a substantial fund-raising lead over two other Democratic candidates for Linn County auditor, including incumbent Joel Miller.
The Houser for Auditor Committee has raised $10,038, according to reports filed this week with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board. Houser's previous county supervisor campaign committee transferred $8,356 to the new effort.
Miller for Auditor raised $2,555, and Brian Gradoville's campaign committee raised $900. Gradoville, an employee in the county treasurer's office, also loaned his campaign $500.
Houser, a county supervisor from 1990 until he was narrowly defeated by John Harris in November 2010, has also spent more than the other two campaigns combined: $6,243 to Miller's $1,119 and Gradoville's $2,726.
The Democratic primary is June 5.
