No one was injured when a man with a handgun held up a Cedar Rapids convenience store early Saturday morning, police said.
Officers responded around 4:55 a.m. Saturday to Kwik Shop, 3301 J St. SW, when the incident was reported. According to the police report, a man with a black handgun walked in and demanded money.
During the robbery, the suspect kept saying "hurry up" to the clerk, police said. The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and headed south.
Sgt. Denni Randall said surveillance cameras captured the robbery. She said the clerk was alone and no customers were in the store at the time.
The suspect is described as a black male between 27 and 33 years old, about 5-foot-8 with an average build, police said. He was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, light blue jeans, a baseball cap, gloves and a black and white bandanna across his face.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police at (319) 286-5491 or Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME.
