Honest discourse needed with Obama, Democrats
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Our country would benefit by having a president, along with prominent Democrats and the media, who would allow us to have honest discourse regarding the problems we have in this country.
In April, House Republicans and Democrats voted to extend the student loan interest rate cuts and used the preventive health care fund to cover offsets. Nancy Pelosi and President Obama were quick to point out that using this fund would further the Republican war on women. Did anyone mention that Democrats had already raided this fund in order to pay for bike trails?
Obama stated in 2008 that during his presidency electricity rates would “necessarily skyrocket.” He is keeping this promise for in 2015 energy prices are expected to triple because of stringent EPA policies on coal plants.
Our southern border is a morass of drugs and crime, which he will get to “in his next four years.” If any conservative or Republican questions these issues, they will be labeled by Obama and his media friends as “flat-earthers, racists, against women,” and you might as well throw in “Islamaphobe.”
Can we ask if 241 different government programs to combat poverty are effective without being shouted down and labeled as a right-winger ready to slash all entitlements? Can we ask if it's wise to cripple coal in order to promote alternative energy that is not ready for mainstream use?
The mainstream media refers to Republicans as the Establishment. To me, it appears the Republicans are the little guys trying to inject common sense into policies that effect our everyday lives.
