Constitution protects us from economic abuse
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Many writers comment on “We the People” of our Constitution to prove their sovereignty of this nation. That is true but they also committed to the Preamble of the Constitution as well.
They commit to a more perfect union, not anarchy. To justice, not tyranny. To domestic tranquillity, not constant disturbances. The common defense, not just for corporations. The general welfare, not just the 1 percent, and to secure the blessings of liberty for all.
The legislatures are elected to regulate for the common good and not for the private interests of corporations as now.
Corporations are a legal fiction created by state governments to contribute to the common good. Do you believe that the writers of our Constitution intended to create organizations that would control our legislatures, ruin the lives of tens of millions of people and collapse our economy for private profits? Do you believe that one segment of the population should be made poor so another segment can prosper?
Multinational corporations make decisions in private that rob us of our liberties. The states create and regulate corporations and they can lock corporations' doors until they agree to act within the law. To say we must compete with the world is no excuse. Nothing in the Constitution requires us to compete with other countries.
We are given many tools in the Constitution to protect ourselves from economic abuse.
