Little ground for tirade against Christian writer
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jun. 21, 2012 12:19 pm
Christians viewing the Scriptures with “open hearts” tend to believe a compassion to not offend makes them “peacemakers.” Instead, it hinders the Gospel message through denying Jesus' word that he would bring division, not “peace,” to the earth (Luke 12:51, John 7:43, 9:16, 10:19).
All the backslid believers since the crucifixion could not do more damage to the Gospel message than these sincere, yet overly cautious constructors of the “good intentions” road to hell.
On June 3, an opinionated offering (“No one right way to look at religion,” Dennis Burrier letter) belittled the May 25 letter (“Jesus is God's free gift to the world,” Lori Coronado) for no better reason than an indignant irritation with this sincere heart's desire to share the Gospel.
Except for the Acts 4:21 (corrected: Acts 4:12) misquote of salvation found in no one else, there is little grounds for the tirade against the sincerity of this Christian's letter.
Granted, those quoting Scriptures would do better to allow God's wisdom to overshadow an excessive Scripture “thumping,” but such wisdom would fall upon the arrogant irreverently deaf ears of intellectual elitists, who care more about disemboweling every Christian's faith than conceding the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths together prove the probability of God's existence.
