GOOD MOVE: The Iowa City Council unanimously approved Marc Moen's request to allow the sale of food and beverages at a proposed future interim mini-theater site within the building at 118 E. College St. - formerly the home of Vito's bar - that he's redeveloping. The change will pave the way for another option that would improve the diversity of entertainment and shopping choices in the downtown.

WHOLE AGAIN: A salute to Garrison's volunteer firefighters. Every member's home was damaged in last year's fierce July 11 windstorm. So was the town's building that housed the fire station and emergency services, and much of its equipment. Still, the emergency crews made do and continued responding to fires and other emergencies until the building was rebuilt, improved and recently returned to use.

MARKET INTEREST: Already, more than 260 vendors have applied for one of the 46 indoor spots in the new year-round New Bo City Market that's expected to open in late October in the near-downtown Cedar Rapids cultural district.
