Veterans need care by doctors who can relate
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 10, 2012 1:17 pm
I read that suicides are surging among America's troops, averaging nearly one a day this year. I have several friends coming back from Iraq and they told me they have no problem going to the Veterans Affairs hospital to talk to the doctors. The thing that angers them: How can they talk to someone who hasn't been there?
You have to wear them boots to understand their pain. So if we want the suicide to decline, I say get a veteran doctor to work with the veterans.
