Take voting fraud, protection seriously

I take issue with some of the comments made by Todd Dorman in his June 26 column (“Cheap political theatrics”). He evidently feels that there is little fraud in the elections in this country and is trying to make fun of some changes proposed by the Republicans to reduce the fraud. Out of nearly 130 million votes cast in the 2008 election, it is estimated that as many as 4 million were likely cast by illegal voters.
Dorman doesn't like Rep. Steve King's suit to bar the state from offering voter information in languages other than English on the ballot. To vote, you are required to be a U.S. citizen and a U.S. citizen should be proficient in English. Why do we therefore need other languages than English on the ballot?
Dorman likes voting without showing a photo ID. If you have to show a photo ID to board an airplane or cash a check, why then should it not be a requirement to show a photo ID to vote?
In regard to absentee ballots, there should be a more foolproof way to make sure that the person, to which the ballot is registered, is the one who fills out the ballot.
