Location fueled this decision.Benton Community guard Madison Weekly made a verbal commitment Wednesday to play women's basketball at the University of Northern Iowa."I like the coaches, the team, the program," said Weekly, a 5-foot-7 senior-to-be from Atkins who led the Bobcats to a No. 1 Class 3A ranking and a 24-1 record last season. "And I like that it's close to home."Weekly, who averaged 18 points, 3.5 steals and 3.3 assists per game per game on her way to first-team all-state honors last season, picked UNI over Creighton. She also showed interest in Drake and South Dakota State. She'll join the Panthers for the 2013-14 season."I went back and forth between UNI and Creighton, but it came down to location. I want my family to be able to see me play a lot."Weekly suffered a broken wrist in the Bobcats' regional final against Keokuk, and the injury forced her out of the state tournament. Benton fell to Ballard in the first round. The wrist "is completely healed," said Weekly, who plans to split time between point guard and shooting guard at UNI. "It's been 100 percent all summer."Benton has reached state the last two seasons.UNI finished 19-15 last year.
