Beckman scored four runs in the sixth inning en route to a 6-3 semifinal win Wednesday over Carroll Kuemper. It held off West Branch in last weekend's quarterfinals, 2-1. North Polk is the third seed but has played above that in wins of 5-0 over Forest City (quarterfinals) and 2-1 over defending champ Davis County (semifinals). The Comets likely will pitch Jacob Hadaway, whis is 10-0 with 4 saves and has not allowed an earned run in 67 innings this season. This is the third time in a championship game for NP, which finished second in 1998 and 2006.

Dallas Center-Grimes has advanced to the title game for the first time on the strength of a 22-game win streak. The Mustangs mercy ruled Western Dubuque in Friday's semifinals, 12-2, in five innings behind a 13-hit attack. Expect DC-G to throw ace pitcher Tyler Peyton. He came into this tournament 9-0 with a 0.37 ERA, though Washington (Iowa) did get to him in 3-2, nine-inning quarterfinal. Decorah has played nearly flawless baseball in its two games here: a 5-3 nine-inning win over Benton Community in the quarterfinals and a 7-2 semifinal win over Sioux City Heelan. The Vikings have committed just one error in two games.
