Harms, Hynek resign softball posts

The number of Metro softball coaching vacancies has increased to three.Jon Harms announced his resignation at Linn-Mar on Monday.Harms had been the head coach since 2007. He coached the Lions to the state tournament twice -- they were fourth in Class 4A in 2007, fifth in 2008.He was an assistant at Linn-Mar from 2003 through 2006. The 2006 team was the 4A state runner-up.Meanwhile, Cedar Rapids Prairie athletics director Rocky Bennett confirmed that Kimi Hynek has stepped down. Hynek was the Prairie coach for 10 seasons.Cedar Rapids Jefferson also is looking for a head coach after Larry Niemeyer was relieved from his duties.
