Thanks from C.R. police chief finalist Smathers

I was honored to be one of the three finalists for Cedar Rapids Police Chief.
First, I want to congratulate Chief Wayne Jerman in his selection. I know he will lead the department with great success. Second, I want to thank City Manager Jeff Pomeranz and the entire city staff for how the process was conducted and how I was treated.
I also want to thank everyone within the Cedar Rapids Police Department and the city I met during my time in your beautiful city. My wife and I were treated warmly by everyone. I will follow the CRPD and enjoy watching your success and seeing the city prosper.
