BIG SUPPORT: Kirkwood Community College just wrapped up a record-setting fundraising campaign - more than $18.7 million, topping the goal by nearly 50 percent. That success means 400 additional scholarships per year for students, accelerating a trend that has seen the college's scholarship program tripled in the past decade. The campaign also drew 2,100 donors, nearly 1,000 of them new alumni donors. A powerful testimonial to Kirkwood's effectiveness.

The endowment fund and campus size more than doubled. All while maintaining a reputation for providing a strong liberal arts education with a wide variety of opportunities for students.

RESILIENCY MESSAGE: Mount Vernon Psychologist Mollie Marti created a Community Resiliency Project two years ago in the wake of three local students who committed suicide. She's building on her efforts to help prevent such tragedy ever again by launching a show, “Resiliency Matters with Dr. Mollie Marti,” on the local Mediacom channel.
