Romney is being dishonest

In the first presidential debate Oct. 3, President Obama stated that he would eliminate tax breaks for corporations sending plants overseas. Mitt Romney responded immediately that he had never heard of such tax breaks. He replied, “I don't know what you are talking about. Maybe I need to get your tax accountant.” This is such a blatant lie. No one in his type of business would be ignorant of the details of corporate tax laws.

The fact is that the Senate Republicans recently blocked a Democratic bill that among other provisions would have ended tax breaks for the costs companies incur in moving operations (machines, equipment, etc.) overseas.

I am reminded of Newt Gingrich's comments after the Republican primary debate of Jan. 26. “You cannot debate somebody who is dishonest. You just can't,” he said, “ ... there is no practical way to deal with somebody who is willing to say something ‘totally dishonest'” (abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012)

If Romney were president, how would those with whom he would be involved in both domestic affairs and foreign affairs have any confidence or assurance in what he says?
