Gomers -- What's going wrong
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 5, 2014 11:58 pm
DEEP FREEZE: The extremely cold conditions of the past week and even lower temperatures expected the first part of this week are challenging Eastern Iowans' hardiness early in the winter of 2013-14. The predicted highs today and Tuesday aren't expected to even approach zero through most of our region. The National Weather says below-average temperatures are likely for most of January. So, we're extra thankful for competent, dedicated utility workers, plumbers, emergency and road crews, and public safety employees - among others working outdoors - who complete their tasks in brutal conditions so the rest of us can continue to drive and have heat, water and power in our homes.
