Casino profits while person, city lose
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 2, 2013 10:40 am
Too many of the profits generated by the casinos come from blood money - money that should have been used to buy food for the children, pay the mortgage, spent on medical expenses or car payments.
The need for jobs will be created by casinos, but do we want to increase these situations? The community will need more divorce lawyers, bankruptcy judges, substance abuse counselors, abused children's agencies, rehabilitation centers, domestic abuse safe havens - just to mention a few.
Vote no March 5 and save our families' well-being and our community's economic stability.
We have enough restaurants and venues for entertainment shows. We don't need to subsidize new ones with blood money.
