Help Iowans, fund mental health

As the 85th General Assembly of the Iowa Legislative session unfolds, I grow more concerned about funding the needs of all Iowans such as those who need mental health services.
I am a professional who works and advocates for individuals with mental health issues. I am first a family member and friend of individuals who are or have struggled at times in their lives with mental health issues. What we know is 1 in 4 families is living with and affected by mental health issues.
I believe legislators this session can agree to fully fund the transition funds and the new regionalization redesign that was started in the last legislative session. As Iowans, we can speak to our legislators and remind them they have a vital role in the lives of individuals who are on the road to recovery. There are great programs that exist in the continuum of care and are or will be at great risk if not fully funded.
If we value all Iowa families, neighbors and children, then we will support all the needed funding for mental health and not continue to jeopardize the welfare of those who already have a battle to conquer every day.
