Are all vices good for our economy?
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I awoke this morning with the government telling me that if I give up a little more of my Second Amendment rights, then the criminals, crazies, drug dealers and despots will suddenly obey all the gun laws and not kill innocent people anymore. Just one more gun law will do it.
I awoke this morning realizing that the first black U.S. president effectively has forced me to start paying an insurance corporation just so I can exist (slavery by percentages).
I awoke this morning hearing that if Linn County residents allow gambling, we will all get whipped cream on our chocolate bars. Jobs, jobs, jobs. If one vice is great for our economy, why not all vices?
I awoke this morning learning that our local leaders need more money. Why don't we allow each one to have a traffic camera for their very own? Twenty-first century highway robbery has worked great for the Cedar Rapids Police Department, why not the rest of our fearless leaders?
I awoke this morning.
