Casino is losing proposition for Cedar Rapids
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 25, 2013 12:41 pm
Concerning a (proposed) casino in the downtown area of Cedar Rapids: The traffic problems will increase on already overloaded streets, with longer travel times and more accidents. It will add to the problem of already deteriorating streets that have not been kept up.
We have inadequate parking for the hotel/convention center. It seems that the only reason the city wants the casino is to bail themselves out of the boondoggle project of the hotel/convention center.
Vote no for the casino and its low-paying, dead-end jobs. The casino will only benefit a few investors. It is a losing proposition for Cedar Rapids.
