CEDAR RAPIDS - The application process closed Monday night. Now the fun part begins for Aaron Stecker. The Cedar Rapids Kennedy athletics director said Monday afternoon he hopes to have a new head boys' basketball coach hired by the second week of April. Kennedy is seeking a replacement for Bob Fontana, who announced earlier this month he is leaving the school to take over the head coaching job at the new Ankeny Centennial High School."You never know how smoothly things will go," Stecker said. "But if everything works out, I hope to have a new coach hired somewhere around April 8 or April 9."Stecker said he will seek assistance from a committee of other Kennedy coaches to go through all of the applications and resumes and give their input. He'll whittle his list to "three to five" candidates whom he hopes to interview the first week of April.
