Add Notre Dame to offers list for Xavier's Nelson

Cedar Rapids Xavier junior Matt Nelson picked up a football scholarship offer from Notre Dame during a visit to the South Bend, Ind., campus Wednesday, according to multiple recruiting sites.The 6-foot-8 "athlete" is being looked at as a possible tight end, defensive end or offensive lineman in college. He had previous scholarship offers from Iowa, Iowa State, San Diego State, Stanford, Nebraska and Yale.A two-sport star, Nelson also had Division I offers in basketball but recently decided he would play college football.“It's exciting to have so many options, but it's also stressful,” Nelson said in an interview two weeks ago. “All in all, it's been fun so far, though. I'm having a blast.”
