Strangers’ gift a lesson for all
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Apr. 20, 2013 10:11 am
On April 13, my son and nine other Benton Community students were dining in Marion before their prom. The waiter informed the students that a couple, who chose to remain anonymous, paid for all of their meals.
I cannot begin to express my gratitude for their generosity and kindness. It is heartwarming to be touched by such a benevolent act in a society where we often only hear of negative events. I am obviously somewhat biased but can assure the couple that they chose 10 outstanding young men and women to treat. The students could have walked away without paying a dime, but remembered to leave a tip for the waiter. I would like to encourage all of the students to “pay if forward.”
The kindness of random strangers has been a great experience and lesson for these students and also for myself and the other parents.
