Longstanding club policy has the board of directors of the Cedar Rapids Kernels springing for a free meal for any of their teams that compiles a win streak of 10 games or more. This one came oh, so close.
The Kernels had a nine-game streak snapped Wednesday night at West Michigan, 7-2. Outfielder Byron Buxton did walk twice to extend his streak of reaching base via hit or walk to 23 games.
