Speed cameras make roads safer
The Gazette Opinion Staff

As a truck driver (14-foot straight bed), I drive Interstate 380 north out Cedar Rapids every morning. I feel a lot safer with traffic going 55-60 through town.
Before cameras, you could get run over by people driving 70-80 mph (or more), including semis. If you follow the laws, then these cameras should not be a problem. If you let people borrow your car and they are speeding, make them pay the fine and stop letting them use your car.
Why would you think you are above the law or that the law does not pertain to you? Is that what you are teaching your kids, your family, and friends - that some laws aren't for you?
If you don't like the speed limit, work to get it changed.
