South Tama's Paige Van Dyke fired a 1-under-par 72 and holds a six-shot lead after the first day of the Class 3A girls' state golf tournament at Ames Golf & Country Club.Cascade's Kate Coyle is second with a 78 and Dyersville Beckman is second in the team race.Cedar Rapids Xavier is second in the 4A team race, also in Ames, led by Maddie Bertsch, who sit seventh. Independence's Mackenzie Black is second in the medalist race.Cedar Rapids Washington's M.J. Kamin sits in a tie for sixth in the Class 5A meet in Panora. HLV's Taylor Tanner is sixth in the 1A meet in Marshalltown.
