Durant rolls to 2A title game

FORT DODGE -- Sidney Lilienthal was 3-for-4 and drove in four runs as third-ranked Durant handled Ridge View, 6-0, in a Class 2A semifinal at the state softball tournament Thursday afternoon at the Rogers Sports Complex.Lilienthal had a double, and scored the Wildcats' first run, in the first inning. She added an RBI single in the fourth, then broke it open with a three-run triple in the fifth.Durant (34-8) advances to its first title game; the Wildcats meet No. 2 Treynor (30-5) for the championship at 12:15 Friday afternoon. The defending-champion Cardinals edged Ackley AGWSR, 1-0, Thursday.The Wildcats collected 12 hits, which was more than enough to stake pitcher Paige Compton, who threw her second straight state shutout. Compton yielded just three hits and didn't allow a Ridge View baserunner past second base.Durant jumped on the Raptors (31-12) immediately, collecting four straight hits. Anna Bentley's two-run single put the Wildcats on the board.Bentley, Lindsay Kelting and Kristin Porstmann added two hits apiece. Kelting scored twice.
