Demons settle for 4th

FORT DODGE -- Indianola banged out 13 hits and whipped Washington (Iowa), 10-1, in the Class 4A third-place game at the state softball tournament Friday afternoon at the Rogers Sports Complex.The Indians (34-10) jumped in front 3-0 in the first inning and never looked back. Washington (30-13) scored its lone tally in the top of the third -- Kaitlin Buchholz drove home Sammy Ellingson -- but the Indians countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning, then tacked on four in the fifth to make it a rout.Buchholz had two of Washington's three hits.The Demons' fourth-place finish matched that of a year ago.
