Heat-related football delays

A number of area football games tonight will be delayed because of the heat. The forecast for 7 p.m. in Cedar Rapids is 87 degrees, with a heat index of 94.Here is a list:

ALBURNETT at NORTH LINN -- JV game will start at 6 p.m. (quarters shortened to 8 minutes). Varsity game will start 30 minutes after sophomore game ends.

BENTON COMMUNITY at VINTON-SHELLSBURG -- Freshman game will start at 6 p.m. (quarters shortened to 8 minutes). Varsity game will start 30 minutes after freshman game ends.

CEDAR FALLS at IOWA CITY HIGH -- Sophomore game will start at 6 p.m. (8-minute quarters). Varsity game will start 30 minutes after the sophomore game ends.

CLAYTON RIDGE at EDGEWOOD-COLESBURG -- Varsity will start at 8 p.m.

CLEAR CREEK AMANA at INDEPENDENCE -- 9th grade game will start at 6 p.m. and varsity will start around 8 p.m.

DECORAH at WAVERLY-SHELL ROCK -- Sophomore game will start at 6 p.m. Varsity game will start at 8:15.

DYERSVILLE BECKMAN at WESTERN DUBUQUE -- Sophomore game will start at 6 p.m. (8 minute quarters). Varsity game will start 30 minutes after the sophomore game ends.

LINN-MAR at IOWA CITY WEST -- Sophomore game will start at 5:30 p.m. (8-minute quarters). Varsity game will start 30 minutes after the sophomore game ends.

MAQUOKETA at CASCADE -- Sophomore game will start at 6 p.m. (quarters shortened to 8 minutes). Varsity game will start 30 minutes after sophomore game ends
