Pay attention to what lawmakers are doing
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Sep. 9, 2013 12:52 pm
We get up every day and repeat the day before. The weekend arrives and we relax or do whatever it is each of us does on the weekend.
Nobody pays attention to what our lawmakers are doing. We assume that for the most part they are acting in a manner that is in our best interest. We also assume, to our detriment, that if they act inappropriately the news media will be sure to let us know.
Well if it involves a sex scandal you can be assured they will, but what if the scandal involves the systematic dismantling of the Constitution? You would think that most certainly the mainstream media would be shouting it from the roof tops right? Wrong! The passage and subsequent signing of H.R. 347 (Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act) by the president proves Democrats and Republicans can agree on something.
It was passed by the Senate without a single vote against it and swept through the house on a 388-3 vote. It is the latest of what can only be described as an all-out attack on our civil liberties. Be careful, my fellow citizens, a day may come when you wake up and realize you no longer live in the land of the free and that day may be closer than you think. Please take the time to find out more about this law and then contact your senators and representative in Washington to demand they repeal it.
