Vote out supporters of wealth inequality

Your Local Priority piece on Sept. 12, “Gap between rich, poor biggest in century,” was very informative. The title shows us a startling statistic about the polarization of wealth. Today the top 10 percent of U.S. households own 80 percent of the wealth in this nation.

The reasons are many, but as the article indicated, much is because of technology - robots replacing workers. Also the outsourcing of jobs overseas, lack of progressive tax policies, the decline in membership of union workers that used to have “living wages,” and the changing social norms about this topic are largely responsible for this unfortunate situation. Many of us joined the Occupy Wall Street movement to demand that the top 1 percent of wealthy households owe us 99 percent money that we have earned.

The dismal situation that we are now facing can be attributed to capitalist globalization and corporate globalization. Let's help change the situation by voting out the right-wing congresspeople who want unfettered capitalism to continue.
