IOWA CITY -- There are dozens, nay, hundreds, of facts in the world. But not all of them are fun. These are. That's a fun opinion, of course, not a fun fact.
1. Northwestern's Kain Colter has 1,979 career passing yards and 1,954 rushing yards. They don't come much more dual-threat than that.
2. Iowa radio announcer Ed Podolak had 2,316 yards passing and 1,710 rushing in his three-year Iowa career.
3. Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald is the second-longest tenured coach in the Big Ten at eight years (Iowa's Kirk Ferentz is first at 15). Fitzgerald is 38.
4. Fitzgerald's overall record is 54-42, but just 12-20 in October.
5. Northwestern has seven players currently pursuing master's degrees.
6. Wildcats linebacker Chi Chi Ariguzo has the best name in the Big Ten. (That's a fun opinion, of course, not a fun fact.) His given first name is Ikechi, a Nigerian word that means "power of God."
7. Northwestern has been outgained this season, 2,984 yards to 2,939.
8. Iowa's Mike Meyer (105) and Northwestern's Jeff Budzien (127) have combined to make their last 232 PAT kicks.
9. Northwestern is 18-11 in true road games since 2008, 12-9 in the Big Ten.
10. Iowa's B.J. Lowery and Northwestern's Dean Lowry combined for three interception returns for touchdowns on Sept. 21. Lowery had two against Western Michigan, Lowry one against Maine. Wildcat linebacker Damien Proby also had one that day.
11. Iowa has 14 players from Illinois, including C.J. Fiedorowicz, Mark Weisman and Louis Trinca-Pasat. Northwestern has no players from Iowa.
