State GBB '14: Tuesday's games

Tuesday's games at the girls state basketball tournament:

CLASS 3A QUARTERFINALS

No. 12 Center Point-Urbana (18-6) vs. No. 1 MOC-Floyd Valley (23-1)

Time: 3:15 p.m.

Tournament history: Center Point-Urbana is making its third appearance. The Stormin' Pointers won the 2A state championship in 1995. MOC-Floyd Valley has qualified for the eighth time, the fourth year in a row.

Coaches: Philip Klett is in his sixth year at CPU and owns a 77-61 record there. He is 112-75 in eight years overall. Gary Richardson is 47-3 in two years at MOC-FV and 334-168 in 23 years overall.

Key players: Arika Wooldridge (6-0, soph.) averages 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game to lead CPU; Kennedy Salow (6-0, sr.) adds 17.1 points and 7.1 boards per game. Alexis Conaway (6-0, sr.) paces the Dutch at 21.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals per game.

No. 5 Williamsburg (22-2) vs. No. 4 Mediapolis (23-1)

Time: 5 p.m.

Tournament history: Williamsburg is making its third appearance, its first since 2008. Mediapolis is here for the 22nd time, but is making its five-player debut. The Bullettes last qualified in 1987.

Coaches: Aaron Feddersen is in his ninth year at Williamsburg and owns a 167-49 record. Todd Rogers is 293-103 in 17 years at Mediapolis, 320-117 in 19 years overall.

Key players: Drake recruit Paige Greiner (5-5, sr.) leads the way for Williamsburg at 15.9 points and 4.4 assists per game. Claire Simmons (5-6, jr.) adds 8.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest. A junior-dominated lineup, Mediapolis has four starters in double-figures, led by Andrea Larson (6-0, jr.) at 19.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Darby Massner (5-8, jr.) adds 16.0 ppg.
