CLASS 5A SEMIFINALS

No. 1 Iowa City High (24-0) vs. No. 5 West Des Moines Dowling (21-3)

Time: 1:45 p.m.

Coaches: Bill McTaggart has coached City High 16 years, amassing a 276-100 mark. He is 367-161 in 21 years overall. Bob and Sharon Hanson are in their 42nd year of coaching, their 26th at Dowling. They have compiled a 737-227 record.

Key players: Haley Lorenzen (6-3, sr.), a University of Florida recruit, averages 21.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game to pace City High. Courtney Joens (5-10, soph.) adds 15.0 points per game while Kiera Washpun (5-6, sr.) offers 13.7 points, 5.1 assists and 4.1 steals per contest. Audrey Faber (6-1, jr.) leads Dowling at 15.5 points per game. Becca Hittner (6-0, soph.) adds 13.0 points per game.

How they got here: Washpun scored 31 points, City High roared to a 25-6 lead after a quarter and handled Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 68-34, in the quarterfinals. Hittner scored 24 points in Dowling's 62-56 triumph over Waukee.
