Anderson resigns at Regina

IOWA CITY -- Four years, four league championships.But, Clark Anderson said, it was time to move on.Anderson said Monday night that he has resigned as girls' basketball coach at Iowa City Regina."The idea, when I started, was to see a class through. I had some great times. It was a great learning experience."Anderson, 28, compiled a 76-19 mark in four seasons as head coach; he was elevated after one year as an assistant.The Regals won Cedar Valley Conference titles in 2011, 2012 and 2013, and claimed the River Valley Conference South Division title last season.Regina advanced to the state tournament in 2013. The Regals were 18-6 last season, falling to Cascade in the Class 2A regional finals."Now, I felt, was a good time to look for other opportunities," said Anderson, whose "day job" is in finance for a Cedar Rapids law firm.Anderson was a member of Linn-Mar's 2004 boys' basketball state-championship team.The Linn-Mar girls' basketball job is open after the recent resignation by Michael Brandt. Anderson was asked if he was interested in the Linn-Mar job."Yup, definitely," he said.Elsewhere, Matt Haas confirmed Monday that he has resigned at Clear Creek Amana. He posted a 23-43 mark in three seasons, 5-16 last winter.
