Kromer, Irma Jo Tubaugh

Irma Jo Tubaugh Kromer, 55, passed away at her home on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or The Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center. Lensing Funeral Service is handling the arrangements.

Irma was born April 10, 1954, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Billie Tubaugh. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1974, and later went on to earn her BA in both Psychology and Sociology from the University of Iowa in 1977. She was employed at the Iowa Mental Health Manpower and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She worked as a project coordinator at the Emergency Medical Services Resource Learning Center and then worked as a research assistant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

She met her husband Steve Kromer in Iowa City, while both attending the University of Iowa. The two wed on Aug. 5, 1978, in Belle Plaine, Iowa. Together they have two wonderful children, Jessica and Austin. Irma was truly dedicated to her family. She attended all of the children's school, musical and sporting events. She had a passion for music and helped teach both of her children to play piano and saxophone.

She was always happy and full of life and will be remembered for her outgoing personality, contagious laugh and “motherly” loving heart.
